Research by
free conference call provider Powwownow reveals traditional face-to-face business meetings may soon be a thing of the past, as during the recession, external meetings have dropped by almost 30 percent. Travel costs, being out of the office and length of meetings are cited as the main culprits for their demise.
“Some PA’s even claimed companies had banned refreshments in meetings!” says Powwownow CEO, Andrew Pearce.
The poll of 2000 people also showed 31 percent of respondents being encouraged to make use of
teleconferencing and
web conferencing facilities, leading to a 20 percent increase in this communication sector’s usage in 2009.
