NationalField – “This is social with clear ROI”

If any of you read the Metro on your way to work this morning you may have noticed an article entitled ‘The new Social Network’ regarding the enterprising NationalField. For those of you who didn’t, the double page spread lavished praise on Edward Saatchi’s (yes, the son of Charles Saatchi) brainchild, an internal social network similar to that of Yammer and Jive. Known to some as ‘Social software’ solutions, all of the above platforms are meant to enable a set of cost reduction / productivity increase practices including ‘fewer meetings’, ‘more ideas generated’, ‘less email’ and a significantly ‘greater feeling of community’ within companies.

Powwownow save Public Sector 47%

As cuts continue to bite hard, public sector turns to UK’s leading conference call provider.

In the wake of recent Coalition cuts to public sector services, Powwownow can now announce the huge saving potential of making a conference call. New research found on average, Powwownow has saved its last 10 public sector clients a remarkable 47%.

Working with leading NHS Trusts, Fire and Ambulance Services as well as many Further and Higher Education bodies, everyone at the Richmond HQ is extremely proud to be associated with our loyal customer base.

“Powwownow has seen a dramatic increase in public sector clients over the past twelve months. It is also worth noting existing clients have increased usage by an average of 20%. Conference calling, despite the advent of video conferencing, remains a vital cost saving tool for many companies – and in spite of the market being crowded, it is the fact Powwownow’s service remains low cost and easy to use that has seen both usage and new customers soar”  - Andrew Peace, Joint Powwownow CEO

By creating smarter, leaner and more efficient public services, is it hoped a larger number of staff will retain their jobs. The harsh reality of a £37 Billion reduction in funding has hit the NHS, Local Government and the Education sectors hardest, and it seems the worst is yet to come.

Official estimates suggest that 330,000 public sector jobs could be lost over the next four years. But according to John Philpott, chief economic adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, that figure may have to be revised:

“Figures showing that public sector employment had already fallen by 123,000 in the year to December 2010 suggest that the eventual cull of public sector jobs by 2015 could be considerably higher than current Office for Budget Responsibility estimates suggest.

Our findings come as we launch a National survey aimed at discovering exactly how much companies save each year using conference call services such as ours – the results of which will be on this very blog early July.
