Stay at home and save the environment with Climate Care Day

Now here’s a good idea: every UK office worker spending one day working from home in a bid to alleviate climate change.

Sounds a little crazy? Well, not really. Maybe not every office is equipped to do so, but with the widespread technology now available – such as telephones, fax machines and the Internet – there aren’t many jobs that can’t be performed to a certain extent remotely.

I can, for example, get my work done at my computer at home, keep in contact with my colleagues while I’m doing it, and then send it off at the end of the day via email. And I can do all this without the quality of my work suffering.

And while I’m doing that, I’m reducing my carbon footprint. I’m don’t have to get in my car to sit in traffic for an hour on my way to work and I don’t have to travel to meetings during the day. Which, of course, doesn’t just benefit the environment, it also helps my bank balance and stress levels!

Which is the reason behind Climate Care Day which is this Friday, the 26th March. All you have to do to take part is stay at home and do your work from there. It’s that simple and if everyone takes part, we’ll be doing an awful lot to help tackle climate change.
