We need your signature to improve internet in the UK

We’re calling on the UK Government to accelerate its rollout of full-fibre broadband across the UK in its National Infrastructure Strategy.

Why we need UK business signatories

To support the transition to remote working in the UK due to the impact of COVID-19, we’re calling on the Government to drastically improve network reliability and connectivity across the UK to help the struggling economy and support businesses and employees working from home. We need your signature to make this happen.

Poor Wi-Fi connection

Turns out Capital living isn’t always that great with Central London topping the charts for poor internet download speeds of 29.9Mbps.

Cost of living central

Bath’s lower than average internet speed is not helped by the high property prices at £5,500 per square metre, making it the 3rd worst location on our Remote Working Index.

Contributing to a low score for remote working is the price of a cheap meal. Chichester takes 4th place for the most expensive meal prices, averaging £16.

*To create the Remote Working Index, PowWowNow analysed data from Ofcom’s Connected Nations 2019 report on broadband, taking download speeds as a measure of internet connectivity, and then studied 5 further liveability categories including cost of a pint, cost of a cheap meal, cost of rent, price of public transport and average house price as found by Numbeo. Each city was given a score out of 5 per category, with the final ranking calculated using a weighting as per the table:
