Customer Profile: European Tour

European Tour Powwownow

Interesting facts about your business?

The European Tour Group runs all aspects of professional golf tournaments from Professionals just starting out on the Challenge Tour through to seasoned career Professionals on the European Senior Tour. Golf is one of the only sports where you can start your career in your teens and still be competitive into your 70’s.

Within the group, we operate the European Challenge Tour, European Tour, European Senior Tour as well as the European Ryder Cup tournaments.

What was the problem?

We were let down by our previous supplier. Powwownow was recommended by our IT Department.

What were the benefits of choosing Powwownow?

We needed 100% reliability; there is no room for error when producing live TV interviews and media conferences to a global audience. Nice to have new technologies being utilised to broaden the reach of the Tour and improve accessibility.

In light of these criteria what made Powwownow the obvious choice?

From day one, Powwownow understood our requirements and worked tirelessly with our media team to deliver these. It was especially well received when issues came up and the Powwownow staff, who were clearly experts in their field, created solutions to these issues well ahead of time.

If there is one thing you would say makes Powwownow different, what is it?

The European Tour do not readily use new service providers as we are a highly risk averse organisation. Powwownow quickly demonstrated that its technology was reliable and its customer service was of a high calibre, giving us the comfort that we could work with them on our high profile international press conferences for The Ryder Cup and the BMW PGA Championship.

Company Background:

It is a unique business which generates profits for the benefit of the Members – the tournament players – who receive their dividends by way of competing and winning prize money.

The European Tour International Schedule, which from 2009 incorporated the inaugural Race to Dubai, is a thriving global brand; the European Challenge Tour focuses on the future; and the European Senior Tour provides a new start for champions celebrating their 50th birthday.

The European Tour’s corporate identity features the iconic silhouette image of six-time Open Champion Harry Vardon and a world skyline graphic depicting many of the geographical elements built into The 2014 Race to Dubai, which will feature a minimum of 48 tournaments in 26 countries. Powwownow was recently a support sponsor of the European Senior Tour which saw Montgomery defend his title.
